Professor Heather Payne

At University College London Hospitals NHS Trust, Professor Heather Payne is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a focus on urology and prostate cancer. She also treats patients privately, notably at The Harley Street Clinic and The Prostate Centre. After graduating from St. Mary's Hospital, Professor Payne practiced general medicine for a while in London and Haiti. When she eventually made it back to London, she began her clinical oncology training and became interested in urological oncology. She is actively engaged in research in addition to her clinical practice and has developed a program of high-dose rate brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Hormone therapy, hormone sensitization to radiotherapy, predictive indices for bowel damage with radiotherapy, proton beam therapy for prostate cancer, chemotherapy, and supporting men's decision-making regarding prostate cancer are some of the current research concerns.
