Padmashri On February 12, 1999, Prof. Dr. P. V. A. Mohandas founded the Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (M.I.O.T. ), a 70-bed hospital with full-time physicians specialising in orthopaedic and trauma care. It soon became clear that several of the trauma patients, who were frequently transported there in a severe state, had pre-existing heart, kidney, and other organ issues. These pre-existing conditions required to be handled in addition to providing trauma care in order to stabilise and provide comprehensive end-to-end care to these individuals. In other instances, patients had organ injuries when they were admitted. Such illnesses required the knowledge of specialists to treat. It was crucial to have full-time specialists due to the nature of trauma care in order to provide the proper care on schedule.This is how MIOT Hospitals / International was created. We can now provide collaborative, multi-specialty treatment thanks to the addition of more specialties to address important health issues, as well as investments in the best staff and the newest medical technology. MIOT International, a 1000-bed hospital with quaternary care in 63 specialties, exists today.
