BIOGRAPHY

The Head of the Singhealth Duke-NUS Sleep Center and Senior Consultant in the Department of Otolaryngology is Dr. Toh Song Tar. He has been named an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He has been named Clinical Physician Faculty for the Otolaryngology, General Surgery, and Family Medicine Residency Programs at SingHealth. After earning his degree from the National University of Singapore, Dr. Toh finished his Otolaryngology specialty training there. He was awarded a Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health to pursue a subspecialization in sleep surgery and medicine at Stanford University. 2014 saw him graduate with his Master of Medicine (Sleep Medicine) from the University of Sydney. He has received training as a console surgeon to conduct transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for obstructive sleep apnea using the da Vinci robot and Medrobotic system. He and his team have performed the greatest number of Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea procedures in Singapore and Southeast Asia to date. He is frequently asked to speak about this surgical method across Asia.
