BIOGRAPHY

Emile studied medicine at the University College London Medical School before finishing both his basic and advanced surgical training in London. Before being appointed Consultant and Clinical Senior Lecturer with Imperial College London, he spent a year-long fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London learning advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer surgery. He then spent another year at the renowned St Marks' Hospital in Harrow, UK, receiving training in advanced laparoscopic surgery, intestinal failure, pelvic floor disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. He now works at the Chelsea and Westminster and Royal Marsden hospitals. Along the way, he worked with Imperial College London to establish a pelvic floor translational research platform, using the chance to advance his clinical academic career. In 2008, he received an Academic Clinical Fellowship from the National Institute for Health (NIHR UK), and in 2011, he was given a Clinical Academic Lectureship award by the NIHR. Emile has given numerous presentations abroad and has a significant body of work in foreign peer-reviewed journals. He continues to have a keen interest in laparoscopic prolapse and functional surgery for pelvic floor disorders, open and minimally invasive cancer surgery, and neuromodulation.
