Adj Asst Prof Oh Han Boon

Dr. Oh Han Boon earned his medical degree from the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2009, and in 2010 he began working at the National University Health System. He was admitted to the first class of the NUHS General Surgery Residency Program in 2010, and he left as its Chief Resident. After receiving his General Surgery Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, he subsequently earned his General Surgery accreditation from the Specialists Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health Singapore. The whole spectrum of breast and endocrine surgical operations, including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and breast cancer surgeries, are performed by Dr. Oh, a breast and endocrine surgeon who joined the Department of General Surgery in 2018. He participates to the Acute Care Surgery team and also does minimally invasive operations with interests in endoscopy, hernia, and gallbladder surgery. As the NUHS Lead for the Ambulatory and Surgical modules of the nation's Next-Generation Electronic Medical Record (NGEMR), Dr. Oh presently holds the positions of Deputy Chief Medical Informatics Officer at NTFGH. His areas of expertise are surgical informatics, artificial intelligence, and medical technology. He also serves as the department's telemedicine lead. Dr. Oh, who is passionate about both undergraduate and graduate medical education, currently serves as a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, as well as a member of the JurongHealth Simulation & Clinical Education Centre's surgical skills subcommittee. He received the NUHS Teaching Excellence Award in 2019 and is currently the undergraduate lead in Surgery. Additionally, he serves as NUHS's Principal Trainer for NGEMR. Dr. Oh is an active Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and a member of the Physician Faculty for the postgraduate surgical residency programmes.
