Chan, Kwan-Leung

At the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and The Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Kwan-Leung Chan practises cardiology. He holds a professorship at the Université of Ottawa's Department of Medicine. Dr. Chan graduated from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg with a BSc, MSc, and MD. He completed his internship at the Health Science Institute in Winnipeg before completing internal medicine residencies at the University of Ottawa and Toronto East General Hospital. He assumed the position of Head Resident in Cardiology at the Heart Institute in 1984 after serving as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at the National Defence Medical Centre in Ottawa since 1982. In 1983 and 1984, respectively, he received his FRCPC (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada) certifications in internal medicine and cardiology. Dr. Chan is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography's Board of Directors as well as the Canadian Society of Echocardiography's Executive Committee.
