Dr. Nanette Alvarez

Born in Trail, British Columbia, Nanette Alvarez went to medical school in Kingston, Ontario. She finished her internship in New Zealand before completing her internal medicine residency in Montreal, Quebec, and Toronto, Ontario. In Toronto, she completed her subspecialty training in cardiology. After that, Dr. Alvarez spent two years in Calgary researching a variety of research interests. In 1989, she enrolled at the University of Calgary and decided to work as a staff member at the Calgary General Hospital. In the Department of Cardiac Sciences, she has the title of Associate Professor. Dr. Alvarez practises general cardiology, but her subspecialty interests include span arteriopathy, adult congenital heart disease, heart disease in women, and echocardiography.She oversees the Peter Lougheed Center's echocardiography department as well as the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic at the University of Calgary.
