Consultant orthopedic surgeon Professor Richard Field specializes in the treatment of hip-related conditions. At St. George's University of London, he teaches orthopaedic surgery. At the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC), where he served as the Director of Research from 2004 to 2021, he conducts his NHS clinical practice. He serves as the Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery's Chief Editor. He conducts his own practice at SWLEOC and occasionally at Chelsea's Lister Hospital. Since 2008, Professor Field has operated on more than 2000 patients using the Direct Anterior (minimally invasive, muscle sparing) Hip Replacement technique, making him the most skilled surgeon in the UK.
