Profile (Overview)
Informally referred to as the "Royal Vic" or "The Vic," the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a medical facility in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), which is connected to McGill University, uses it as its largest base hospital. Prior to 2015, when the majority of hospital operations were transferred to the Glen site (1001 Décarie Boulevard), named after the former Glen railway yards, the hospital, which was founded in 1893, was headquartered at Pine Avenue, now known as the Legacy site. The Legacy site's potential uses are now being investigated, and it appears likely that McGill University will acquire the next to its main campus site.
Hospital (Infrastructure)
Originally built in 1883, the hospital was moved in 2015. One of the primary redeployment activities for MUHC was the relocation of the historic Royal Victoria Hospital, which involved removals from many buildings over the course of 19 days. In just one day, the new site's Blocks B, C, and D accommodated 154 patients (139 adults and 15 infants) in a comfortable manner. major relocation of many historic sites to the 500-bed, 2.5 million-square-foot Glen Site. Over 7,000 employees were involved in this six-month amalgamation, which resulted in the closure of three sizable legacy facilities—Montreal Children's Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, and Montreal Chest Institute—and was the greatest hospital transfer in Canadian history. The Royal Victoria Hospital's Division of Geriatric Medicine now has 687 beds, including a 28-bed acute care geriatrics ward.
