Profile (Overview)
One of the biggest and most advanced university health networks in North America is the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). Our mission is to offer tertiary and quaternary care to Montreal and Quebec residents. In other words, medical care that necessitates hospitalisation, intricate surgery, urgent therapy, or specialist care. We are authorised to provide patients with services in English. We support seven clinical missions across four hospitals in Montreal and provide more than 70 specialist healthcare services. The Montreal General Hospital (MGH), which was established in 1821, has an outstanding international reputation and a long tradition of community involvement. The Faculty of Medicine at McGill University was established thanks to the MGH, a pioneering hospital in North America that pioneered the concept of teaching at the patient's bedside. The Research Institute of the MUHC is an international research powerhouse with a worldwide reputation in the field of biomedical sciences and health care.The MUHC, which is associated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, fosters an atmosphere where trainees, postgraduate residents, and students can further their careers while enhancing patient care. Every year, we invite students from a variety of medical fields to our hospitals, helping to prepare the next generation of medical professionals.

In 2015, Dr. Amin Andalib accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of General Surgery at McGill University. His clinical practise is primarily focused on bariatric surgery and the treatment of obesity. In addition, he oversees the clinical teaching unit for general surgery at the Montreal General Hospital and the programme for the fellowship in bariatric surgery. His primary areas of interest in research are patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical outcomes in bariatric surgery. A trauma surgeon and critical care specialist, Lieutenant-Colonel Andrew Beckett is a member of the Royal Canadian Medical Service. The trauma surgeon at Montreal General Hospital is Dr. Beckett. As a colon and rectal surgeon, Patrick Charlebois, MD, joined the MUHC section of general surgery in 2003. He currently serves as the Montreal General Hospital's Site Director for the Department of Surgery. At McGill, he is an assistant professor of oncology and surgery. His areas of expertise include anorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, and the surgical and endoscopic treatment of colorectal cancer. His area of expertise is the utilisation of minimally invasive procedures to manage certain surgical disorders. His primary areas of interest in research are multimodal prehabilitation, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), minimally invasive surgery, and contemporary management of rectal cancer. Mulder Chair in Surgery, is a clinical scientist in the Departments of Surgery and Oncology, and specialises in the care of complicated foregut tumours. With this, he has led a number of projects aimed at enhancing patient care and carefully coordinating basic, translational, and clinical scientific research in gastric and esophageal surgery outcomes. With the goal of finding and carrying out research ideas in the area of stomach and esophageal cancer, he founded the McGill University Foregut Malignancy Research Group, a multidisciplinary group of researchers and doctors.
