Guy's Hospital

Since 2017, Rajesh Nair has served as a consultant urologist at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. All types of urological cancer patients are treated by Rajesh. He provides a variety of diagnostic and surgical procedures for urothelial carcinoma of the bladder, kidney, and upper tract. He is dedicated to local and national surgical education and has a keen intellectual interest in the field. In 2003, Thomasin Andrews was hired as a consultant neurologist. She manages general neurology clinics as well as specialized Huntington's disease and movement disorder clinics. She oversees the Parkinson's disease service for the Trust along with her consultant coworker Dr. Peter Diem, Stella Gay, and Lesley Swinn, Parkinson's nursing specialists. She finished her medical degree in Huntington's disease and has served as local primary investigator on numerous national and international observational studies in Parkinson's and Huntington's disease. Ajay Aggarwal is an honorary senior lecturer at King's College London as well as a clinical oncology consultant at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals. Clinical oncologist Ajay specializes in administering radiation and systemic therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer in all stages. He serves as the oncology coordinator for the Royal College of Surgeons of England's National Prostate Cancer Audit, which has been gathering data on the procedures and results of treatment for all men recently diagnosed with prostate cancer in England and Wales since April 2013. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of radiotherapy and surgical care at the level of the individual patient and hospital, he has created outcome indicators using administrative information. In January 2016, Professor Nicholas van As was named The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust's medical director. Since 2008, he has served as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in The Royal Marsden's Urology Unit, where he also serves as the facility's Clinical Lead for CyberKnife and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). Nicholas serves as a trustee for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in addition to being a professor at The Institute of Cancer Research. Professor van As, the national clinical lead for NHS England's Commissioning via Evaluation Programme for SBRT, formerly served as Chair of the UK SBRT Consortium. His primary areas of interest in research are stereotactic and image-guided radiation, risk assessment in early prostate cancer, and functional MRI. He has written extensively on these topics and presented at conferences across the world. The PACE trial, an international, randomized controlled study comparing SBRT to image-guided radiation (IGRT) and surgery for treating cancer, has him as its chief investigator. View Profile

Mr. Conal Austin is a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon who practices privately at London Bridge Hospital and is based at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital. He handles all facets of congenital surgery cases in adults and neonates. Mr. Austin specializes in intraoperative 3D echocardiography, limited access juvenile cardiac repairs, and conservative paediatric vascular repairs. PEARS, or personalized external aortic root support, is another topic that particularly interests him. Paediatric cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, heart bypass surgery, coronary artery surgery, valve replacement or repair, atrial septal defects, complete arterial revascularization, and mitral valve repair are among the therapies that Mr. Austin provides. Additionally, he specializes in the treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. Charles Bain earned his undergraduate degree in medicine with honors from Bristol University and his BSc in medical ethics with first-class honors. After that, he relocated to London to begin his training in plastic surgery. Charles did an aesthetic surgery residency at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London Clinic, Wellington Hospital, Cromwell Hospital, and King Edward VII Hospital, where he studied under internationally known London cosmetic surgeons. He completed his fellowship study in hand and wrist surgery at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and in trauma repair at Imperial College in London. After that, he came back to take a position as a plastic surgery consultant at the Guys' and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Charles earned his Master's degree in aesthetic plastic surgery with honors, and he has written multiple book chapters and academic publications in the fields of hand surgery and cosmetic surgery. The highest speciality certification in hand surgery, the hand surgery diploma, has also been earned by him. In his work for the NHS and as invited faculty on a variety of training courses, Charles has a particular interest in instructing and training the upcoming generation of plastic surgeons. Mr. Khan studied medicine at Oxford's Brasenose College before finishing his plastic surgery residency in the London Deanery. He received a Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship during this period to pursue a PhD at the Institute for Cancer Research (ICR) to study virally-delivered gene therapies as focused treatments to avert post-radiotherapy fibrosis. After that, he was given an NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship in Plastic Surgery at the ICR to research the biology of breast implant capsules. His study has received widespread acclaim, garnering accolades from organizations like The Royal College of Surgeons, the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (BAPRAS), and the European Association of Plastic Surgery (EURAPS), as well as invitations to deliver invited lectures at conferences across the world. He completed a one-year fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery for cancer at the Sidney-Kimmel Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA, after receiving his CCT. He learned how to perform autologous breast reconstruction (DIEP, TMG), reconstruct after sarcoma surgery, and treat lymphedema surgically using lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) and vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) procedures. Prior to going to London, Philip Berry completed his training in Bristol. There, he worked in a number of specialized liver centers and became certified as a consultant in 2010. He worked at Frimley Park Hospital from 2010 until 2015, where he served as the trust's clinical lead for patient safety. He continues to have a keen interest in St Thomas' governance and safety. At Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Andrew D'Silva is a consultant cardiologist and an honorary senior clinical lecturer. He has a lot of experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. He frequently lectured and oversaw a lot of MSc students for the Sports Cardiology MSc at St. George's University of London. He created the first two cardiac simulation training courses in Kent, Surrey, and Sussex and serves as a teacher and medical director for Advanced Life Support Courses. View Profile

In 1999, Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust hired Jonathan Lucas as an orthopaedic and spinal consultant. Jonathan was the chief surgeon for spinal surgery at Guy's and St. Thomas' from 2007 to 2019 and is now the director of the service for pediatric spinal surgery at Evelina London Children's Hospital. Jonathan served as AO SPINE UK's previous chairman. The British Association of Spine Surgeons, the British Scoliosis Society, the European Spine Society, the North American Spine Society, and the British Orthopaedic Association are among the organizations he belongs to. In 1988, Jonathan received his medical degree from St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School in London. He underwent fundamental surgical training during his rotation at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and in 1992, he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS(Eng)). On the south east Thames orthopaedic rotation, he pursued further surgical orthopaedic training and earned the FRCS(Orth&Tr) in 1998. As a fellow at The Centre for spine Studies and Surgery at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and as a British Orthopaedic Association traveling fellow to the USA, specializing in children's and adult deformity surgery, he received specialized training in spine surgery. 2015 saw the appointment of Nikolaos Karydis as a consultant at Guy's Hospital. For two worldwide multi-centre clinical trials in vascular access (Laminate, VALUE), he serves as the primary investigator at Guy's. He also regularly instructs medical students as an honorary senior lecturer at King's College London. He recently began serving as the London Deanery's joint training program director for trainees in transplant surgery. He specializes in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, kidney transplantation from marginal donors, double adult kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, complex vasular access for dialysis, and laparoscopic peritoneal dialysis procedures. Additionally, he conducts donor nephrectomies, popularly known as ""keyhole"" procedures, for individuals who choose to give a kidney to a friend or relative. Assessment for kidney donation and transplantation, follow-up following donation and transplant, evaluation of vascular access for hemodialysate and peritoneal dialysis are among the clinical consultations he provides.
