A university-affiliated health science centre, Mount Sinai Hospital is a division of Sinai Health and a component of the University of Toronto. Bridges and tunnels connect Mount Sinai to three nearby University Health Network hospitals (Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre). The hospital reported having assets of about 520 million Canadian dollars to the Canada Revenue Agency during the 2005 annual charity. Around 29,000 inpatient stays and 59,700 emergency department visits were recorded at Mount Sinai Hospital for the 2019–2020 fiscal year. For inpatients, the typical stay was 4.4 days. From 1923, Mount Sinai Hospital has operated in Toronto under a variety of names; it has been located on University Avenue since 1953. The Mount Sinai Hospital provided 128,714 inpatient days of care, nearly 7,000 baby deliveries, and nearly 20,000 surgeries in the fiscal year that ended in March 2013. More than 500,000 people from Toronto and the surrounding area visited Mount Sinai's ambulatory clinic. The hospital's Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Department received 56,080 visitors in the same year, and over the following several years, it is anticipated that this figure will rise to 80,000 visits annually.
