Clinical Associate Professor David Sim is the Director of Clinical Trials, Director of the Heart Failure Program, and Senior Consultant in the Department of Cardiology at the National Heart Centre Singapore. His specialised interests include interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, vascular medicine, and peripheral arterial procedures. He oversees the NHCS MitraClip programme. He is the Scientific Lead for the Clinical Sciences and Database Core at the National Heart Research Institute Singapore and a Clinical Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He oversees the SingCLOUD and SingHEART studies as the principal investigator. In addition, Clin Assoc Prof Yeo serves as SingHealth's deputy group chief medical informatics officer (research). He previously held the positions of Academic Vice-Chair (Training and Education) for the SingHealth Duke-NUS Cardiovascular Academic Clinical Program and Programme Director of the SingHealth Cardiology Senior Residency Program (April 2016 to March 2021). Clinical Assistant Professor Ong Boon Hean is a Senior Consultant, the Director of Thoracic Surgery at the National Heart Centre Singapore, and the Deputy Head (Thoracic) of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery (NHCS). In 2006, he received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore. At the National Heart Centre in Singapore, he eventually finished his training in cardiothoracic surgery, and in 2014, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). In order to pursue an advanced clinical fellowship in general thoracic surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School in the United States of America, he was then given the Singapore Ministry of Health-SingHealth HMDP Award in 2014. He returned from his fellowship training in 2016 to perform cardiothoracic surgery at the National Heart Centre Singapore with speciality interests in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, thoracic cancer, and lung transplantation. He presently serves as the service chief for the SingHealth Duke-NUS Lung Centre at the Singapore General Hospital campus as well as the director of the lung transplant programme at the National Heart Centre. Additionally, he previously held the position of honorary secretary for the Academy of Medicine Singapore's Chapter of Cardiothoracic Surgeons. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in thoracic surgery education and research. He serves as a core clinical faculty member of the National Heart Centre Singapore Cardiothoracic Residency programme, a clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and an examiner for the Joint Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Cardiothoracic Surgery administered by the Joint Committee on Specialist Training and the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). From the National University of Singapore, he earned his bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery in 1993. Since 1999, he has been a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, UK. Since 2004, he has also been a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons' cardiothoracic division. Since 2005, he has also been a fellow of the Academy of Medicine in Singapore. In 2005–2006 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and in 2006–2008 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Heart & Vascular Institute in Ohio, Asst. Prof. Chao finished his fellowship in adult cardiac surgery. He completed a 1-year Aortic and Endovascular Fellowship, a 6-month Heart Failure, Assist Device, and Transplant Fellowship, as well as training in re-operative cardiac surgery and transcatheter aortic valve implantation while working at the Cleveland Clinic. Additionally, he has taken part in brief fellowships at the University of California San Diego and the Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, UK, for pulmonary endarterectomy for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, and Guys St Thomas' Hospital in London in 2013 for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (CTEPH). At the University of Melbourne in Australia, he took part in the Masters in Surgical Education programme, from which he graduated in 2019 with First Class Honors. He is certified in nuclear cardiology and cardiac computed tomography (CT) by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT and has a special interest in cardiac imaging. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine). Prof. Terrance Chua is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Royal Colleges of Edinburgh and London, the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the Department of Cardiology. Clin Prof. Chua participates in research and has a focus on cardiac imaging. He serves on the editorial board of both the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. He started the Cardiology Update and Cardiology PACES courses at NHCS because he is interested in advancing cardiology training.
