His urology training included time spent at the Bristol Urological Institute (BUI) in the UK (1996–1997) and a robotic urology residency programme at the University of California, Irvine in the USA (2005). After completing his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Middlesex Hospital in London, Dr. Sriram Shankar worked at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, the Harefield Hospital in Uxbridge, and the Brompton Hospital in London. Dr. Shankar received the First Prize of Honor in Microbiology in 1980 as well as the Dr. Rama Rao Gold Medal in Anatomy in 1978. In 2009, he joined the Royal College of Physicians (UK). He then finished his neurology specialised studies in 2013. He pursued a year of fellowship training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Australia, after receiving the Health Manpower Development grant in 2015. Dr. Wee worked at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), which has campuses at Changi General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. He assisted in creating and perfecting protocols for treating patients with acute strokes. Additionally, he served as NNI's chief medical informatics officer.
