After completing his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Middlesex Hospital in London, Dr. Sriram Shankar worked at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, the Harefield Hospital in Uxbridge, and the Brompton Hospital in London. Dr. Shankar received the First Prize of Honor in Microbiology in 1980 as well as the Dr. Rama Rao Gold Medal in Anatomy in 1978. In September 1990, Dr. Shankar relocated to Singapore, but in 1995 he went back to England to pursue more specialisation. He spent a year working with Drs. B Sethia and William J. Brawn, FRCS, at the Children's Hospital of Birmingham during this time. At the KK Women's and Children's Hospital, where he served as Head of Services until March 2009, Dr. Shankar has since assisted in the creation of the Paediatric Cardiothoracic service. Dr. Shankar has performed over 1000 off-pump surgeries for patients with Coronary Artery Disease, giving him vast experience in adult cardiac surgery. She specialises in microsurgical reconstruction of the upper limb, open and endoscopic peripheral nerve procedures, and reconstruction of brachial plexus injuries. Additionally, she is particularly interested in ligament repair for wrist instability, hand and wrist arthritis, fractures of the hand and wrist, and wrist arthroscopy. After completing her studies in hand surgery in Singapore, Dr. Tan was given a Health Manpower Development Plan fellowship scholarship by the Ministry of Health in 2010. She specialises in brachial plexus surgery and cutting-edge microsurgery. She is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The treatment of acute strokes is the area of clinical interest for Dr. Wee Chee Keong. In 2004, Dr. Wee graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in medicine and surgery. In 2009, he joined the Royal College of Physicians (UK). He then finished his neurology specialised studies in 2013. He pursued a year of fellowship training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Australia, after receiving the Health Manpower Development grant in 2015. Dr. Wee worked at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), which has campuses at Changi General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. He assisted in creating and perfecting protocols for treating patients with acute strokes. Additionally, he served as NNI's chief medical informatics officer. Dr. Wee, a zealous patient advocate, co-chaired the first Brain Awareness Carnival in 2017, NNI's outreach initiative to educate the public on the prevention and treatment of neurological illnesses. Dr. Wee worked as a teacher for the Duke-NUS Medical School's senior residency programme in neurology. He also served as an adjunct assistant professor there.
