In 2005, the East Wing was constructed. Toronto Western will be enlarged in 2022 to include a new patient care tower that will boost the facility's capacity for inpatients, operating rooms, and other units. This expansion was announced by the Ontario government at the time. Over the following ten years, the expansion is anticipated to result in a 10% rise in neurosurgery procedures.
