For end-stage ankle arthritis, Dr. Ananda successfully carried out the region's first lateral total ankle replacement surgery. In Singapore, he performed various "first procedures," such as rotablator atherectomy, aortic valvuloplasty, and transradial coronary treatments. He is a faculty member of Trans Catheter Therapeutics (USA), TCT Asia Pacific (South Korea), and PCR Asia, and is widely acknowledged as one of the foremost experts in the field of coronary interventions (Singapore). Prior to entering private practise, Dr. Chan taught medicine as a lecturer at the National University of Singapore (1984–1986) and the University of Aberdeen (1984–1986). (2001). He previously served as the National Heart Centre of Singapore's Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Interventional Cardiology. He has authored multiple book chapters and more than 100 peer-reviewed articles that have been published in international publications. He got the Leonard Abramson Gold Medal from the Royal College of Surgeons Medical School in the Final MB and the Desmond Lyons Gold Medal in Medicine from St Laurence Hospital after earning his Honours Degree from the National University of Ireland in 1982. He was then given a clinical and research fellowship in stroke and critical care neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he trained and collaborated with the best and brightest in neuroscience.
