The National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) is a national and regional centre of excellence dedicated to providing the best possible patient care, clinical services, and research. By providing the finest patient care, utilising the best people, and conducting the best research, we are dedicated to becoming a top cancer centre in the world. Since accepting our initial patients in 1999, we have made great strides to establish ourselves as one of the region's most comprehensive cancer centres of excellence. We were able to create effective medical and research teams. Our brand has grown significantly both domestically and internationally thanks to the work of many of our clinicians and scientists. Their work has been included in widely respected, high-impact magazines for medicine and science. Our doctors have also received recognition in their specialties, which has led to their demand as keynote speakers at international conferences. Additionally, they most recently received the American Association for Cancer Research's prestigious Team Science award (AACR). This acknowledges the high calibre of their work.

Assoc Prof Ravindran Kanesvaran

In the National Cancer Centre Singapore's Division of Medical Oncology, Dr. Ravindran Kanesvaran serves as Senior Consultant and Deputy Head. Additionally, he holds the positions of clinical senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and associate professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. He is a core faculty member of the Singhealth Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Medical Oncology Senior Residency Program, and he is actively involved in graduate medical education. He finished his training in the National Cancer Center of Singapore's medical oncology specialty. After completing his programme, he continued his education by receiving a Healthcare Manpower Development Program (HMDP) funding from the Ministry of Health Singapore to pursue a fellowship in genitourinary oncology (GU) and geriatric oncology at the Duke Cancer Institute in North Carolina, USA. His areas of interest in research are geriatric oncology and GU oncology. He has published work in a variety of renowned peer-reviewed journals, such as Lancet Oncology and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Additionally, he has received a number of honours, such as the 2009 Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO GU), the 2010 Scholar-in-Training Award from the American Association for Cancer Research, and the 2012 Fellowship Award from the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). He now serves as the president of both the Singapore Geriatric Oncology Society and the Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO). He has been named a 2015–2016 member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) faculty. He serves on the International Society of Geriatric Oncology's Scientific and Education Committee and is Singapore's National Representative (SIOG). At the National Cancer Centre in Singapore, Dr. Chay Wen Yee is a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist who specialises in breast and gynaecological cancers. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the department of medicine at the Singhealth Duke-NUS Oncology Academic Clinic Program and a visiting consultant at the KK Women and Children's Hospital's Department of Gynecological Oncology. Identifying biomarkers for mucinous ovarian cancer is one of Dr. Chay's key research focuses in gynaecological cancers. She participates in a number of investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored trials as a main investigator and a co-investigator. Her previous positions include Core Faculty for the Senior Residency Programme in Medical Oncology, faculty for the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, and clinical tutor for the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Emile studied medicine at the University College London Medical School before finishing both his basic and advanced surgical training in London. Before being appointed Consultant and Clinical Senior Lecturer with Imperial College London, he spent a year-long fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London learning advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer surgery. He then spent another year at the renowned St Marks' Hospital in Harrow, UK, receiving training in advanced laparoscopic surgery, intestinal failure, pelvic floor disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. He now works at the Chelsea and Westminster and Royal Marsden hospitals. Along the way, he worked with Imperial College London to establish a pelvic floor translational research platform, using the chance to advance his clinical academic career. In 2008, he received an Academic Clinical Fellowship from the National Institute for Health (NIHR UK), and in 2011, he was given a Clinical Academic Lectureship award by the NIHR. Emile has given numerous presentations abroad and has a significant body of work in foreign peer-reviewed journals. Adj Assoc Prof Toh Song Tar

The Head of the Singhealth Duke-NUS Sleep Center and Senior Consultant in the Department of Otolaryngology is Dr. Toh Song Tar. He has been named an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He has been named Clinical Physician Faculty for the Otolaryngology, General Surgery, and Family Medicine Residency Programs at SingHealth. After earning his degree from the National University of Singapore, Dr. Toh finished his Otolaryngology specialty training there. He was awarded a Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health to pursue a subspecialization in sleep surgery and medicine at Stanford University. 2014 saw him graduate with his Master of Medicine (Sleep Medicine) from the University of Sydney. He has received training as a console surgeon to conduct transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for obstructive sleep apnea using the da Vinci robot and Medrobotic system. He and his team have performed the greatest number of Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea procedures in Singapore and Southeast Asia to date. At both the National Cancer Centre Singapore and the Singapore General Hospital, Dr. Veronique Tan oversees the Breast Surgery Department. She is also the director of the Duke-NUS Breast Center at SingHealth.One of the few breast surgeons in Singapore with a formal breast oncoplastic surgery training is Dr. Tan. Dr. Tan thinks that each patient should have a customised, personalised surgical treatment because the appearance of the breast following cancer excision is significant. Her current scope of practise includes all benign breast disorders, oncoplastic breast surgery, breast reconstruction, and the surgical diagnosis and treatment of symptomatic and screen-detected breast cancer. Dr. Tan is a clinical associate professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and is actively involved in both teaching and research. Breast cancer, particularly breast cancer in young women and hereditary breast cancers, is of interest to her in terms of research. She is the principal investigator (PI) of a clinical trial looking at the minimally invasive Targeted Axillary Dissection for patients who respond favourably to neoadjuvant systemic therapy and actively investigates ways to safely de-escalate surgical therapy for breast cancer. He has dedicated his professional life to serving the public since 1965, when he returned from completing his medical study in Cambridge, UK. He received his formal training at KKH, SGH, and St. Mary's Hospital in London to become a medical specialist in O&G. After departing from NUS in 1986 to establish the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the request of the MOH, he worked for SGH. He has performed his administrative obligations as Head of Department, Chairman of the Division of Surgery, Chairman of the Medical Board, and Associate Dean in addition to his professional services in O&G. He has been elected as the President of the O&G Society of Singapore, the Chairman of the O&G, Academy of Medicine, and the Chairman of the Singapore Representative Committee of the Royal College of O&G. Since 2002, he has resumed his clinical practise at SGH.
