The largest cardiovascular health facility in Canada is the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI). It is situated in Canada's Ottawa, Ontario. It started out as a division of The Ottawa Hospital and has since grown into the first comprehensive cardiac centre in Canada, providing prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, research, and teaching. Every year, UOHI provides care for more than 100,000 cardiac patients, and the average patient satisfaction rate in Ontario is 98 percent. The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa, specifically the Faculty of Medicine, are partners with the Heart Institute. Also, the institute maintains a significant cardiovascular research programme with 60 principle investigators and receives around $65 million in yearly research funding. It also annually trains more than 100 physicians.
